Jonathan Ross is a UK celebrity that will be hosting Nintendo’s 3DS reveal on January 19th, 2011 in Amsterdam.  That being said, Ross clearly has some inside information about what will be happening at this highly anticipated event.  Today many were Tweeting @ Ross about the upcoming reveal.  One fan, going by the name darrenkerwin, sent the following to Ross regarding his knowledge on the event:

@Wossy It’s absolutely fine, I don’t expect you to spill anything, it’s nice to have a surprise. I have my fingers crossed for Metroid..

Ross’s reply was more than interesting:

@darrenkerwin I think you’re going to be pleased then…

Whether Ross is referring to a totally new game, or a 3D remake of a classic Metroid title, is unknown.  For now this information should be considered a rumor but know that Ross clearly knows things that the rest of us don’t.

UPDATE: decided to ask Jonathan Ross about this reveal via Twitter.  They asked Ross the following:

@Wossy You started a lot of 3DS rumours! You meant @darrenkerwin will be pleased about general surprises not about a Metroid 3DS didn’t you?

Ross replied:

@3DSBuzz yes. Why? Did he think I meant new Meteoid?

Sadly this exciting rumor may be on shaky ground.  Regardless – stay tuned for Wednesday for all the exciting Nintendo 3DS information is revealed.  There is still some hope for a new Metroid title though, but the odds have just been lowered a notch.

  1. As far as games go the early parts of my gaming years and best parts of my childhood were spent in Super Metroid. I’ve played through the original game so many times unlocking different areas and completely powering up my character.

    I value no other game in the same way I do Super Metroid. If it is a redone Metroid title, not a FPS shit-game like the others (they weren’t terrible I just want a platformer), I’m going to be one of the happiest gamers alive.

    • Yes that does but it’s not a game. Nintendo had people going out with demos at the event that just showed pictures, or just demos with some slight movement, on DS’s that were displayed in 3D. Users had the ability to use the Circle pad to change the viewing angle. So don’t think this is a new game.
