A source at Gamestop has confirmed that they are now taking pre-orders for the Sony NGP (PSP 2) with a $50 deposit.  However, what is more interesting is the price.

You see, normally when a new piece of gaming hardware has not yet been given an official price or street date, it will be given the tentative price of $999 in the computer system.  However, Sony’s NGP is currently listed at $299 when pre-orders are taken with a $50 deposit.  Is this confirmation of a final price?  Hardly.  However, it’s worth noting that the Nintendo 3DS was listed at $999 until just last week when the official price was set.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated as this story unfolds while the gaming world eagerly awaits to find out just how much it will cost to have the power of a PS3 in the palm of your hand.

    • That’s a good question. I doubt they would even let you pay it off right now because it’s a placeholder price. While it may be the final price – I doubt they would lock you in without an official announcement. All they really want is your $50 so you can reserve an NGP. We’ll keep you updated when we find out more.

    • I made my pre-ordered 1/5/11

If you put $20 or more down for pre-order it’ll go towards the cost of the system, so thats saying (Price minus whatever u pay), better yet you can pay the whole thing off at once, my friend did it with the 3DS

Im gonna get my NGP the first day of release, if you don’t pre-order it its very unlikely you’ll be getting your hands on one cuz they’ll sell like hot cakes, especially when killzone, Cod and Wipeout HD makes their debut… it chills my bones just thinking about it.

  1. my friend called them and they said they were not taking per-Oder and won’t in tell a Release Date and Price are announced

  2. Made NGP pre-order 1/5/11

these babies are gonna sell like hot cakes, and Mario won’t be able to do a thing about it.
