Photos of all six of the Augmented Reality cards that will be bundled with the 3DS have been revealed and contain many major Nintendo characters.  Seen on these cards are Mario, Link, Kirby, Samus, Pikmin, and the previously known Question Block card.

More details on the games that use the five newly revealed cards are currently unknown, but I think it’s a safe bet to say we MAY see some of these major characters appear in some of the Augmented Reality launch titles that will be pre-installed on every 3DS!

  1. Interesting. I wonder how they will be tracked effectively. There doesn’t appear to be any identifiers on the cards, aside from the graphic, which would probably be unreliable compared to high-contrast symbols like we usually see.

  2. I have tested augmented reality before with a few images and a program that had access to my webcam. It’s the programming on the 3ds console and cards that will help with it. The AR card doesn’t have to have the intense imaging as is commonly seen. The cards don’t have to be fancy, it is only the programming. Go to this site and look to print the card on the right hand side. The card is simple and it works, this is one of the AR that I’ve personally tested.
