We already know that the Wii U will be unable to play GameCube discs.  However a recent interview by NintendoGal.com with Amber McCollom, Nintendo of America’s Director of Entertainment and Trend Marketing, has revealed some possible new information.  McCollom said:

“GameCube discs will not be compatible with Wii U, but a number of the games that were playable on GameCube can be downloaded from WiiWare.”

It is currently unknown if McCollom misspoke or if the Wii U will officially include GameCube games on a possible Wii U Virtual Console service.

  1. Honestly… there are VERY FEW GC titles I would care to download. Honestly.. the only GC games I kept are Zelda Wind Waker and MGS Twin Snakes…

  2. Seems like another way for Nnintendo to milk more money…but without a GameCube controller  port, just seems pretty pointless…however if they re-made Zelda Four Swords using the new controllers THAT would be awesome!!
