One thing that’s always bothered me about mobile gaming in general is the graphics; while there are a few standout games (such as Infinity Blade), most of the games on mobile devices remind me of the Playstation era. The lack of graphics is enough that dedicated handheld gaming systems, such as the 3DS or upcoming PSVita, still have a place in mobile gaming, even if it does mean carrying an extra device. Mobile phones are starting to catch up in power to those other gaming devices, however, and Shadowgun is here to prove it.
Shadowgun is a 3rd person shooter along the lines of Gears of War, and boasts console-quality graphics and gameplay. The visuals are impressive to say the least, and the game plays much more like a home console than a mobile phone game. According to the developer:
Shadowgun puts players into the role of John Slade, a professional bounty hunter in the year 2350. Slade’s mission: hunt down Dr. Edgar Simon, renowned geneticist and former employee of the trans-galactic corporation Toltech Enterprises. Players must lead “shadowgun” John Slade as he infiltrates Dr. Simon’s mountain fortress and fights his personal army of mutants, cyborgs, and genetically-enhanced humanoids.
If you’re an iOS gamer, this is going to be one game you won’t want to miss. Check out the trailer below, and watch for the release on the App Store September 28.
