First person shooters have changed.  Whether you think it’s for better or for worse, things will never be the same.

Many of us PC gamers remember the good old days of id classics such as DooM and Quake, but what would those games be like if they were made like modern day shooters?

Well, a pair of YouTubers has figured it out, and the results are hilarious:

If DooM was done today…

If Quake was done today…

Will they ever make ’em like they used to?

  1. Games like this were awesome for single player, but absolutely horrible for online multiplayer. They work a little for co-op however, like serious sam games, but if they tried to do this kind of game with game modes like the ones in COD and BF it would just crash and burn.

So I can see where these guys are coming from, but they just aren’t being realistic, they’re looking at the past with rose-hued glasses. In this day and age online multiplayer is where it’s at. However, if modern games could somehow incorporate this style of game in their campaigns, and progress the multiplayer version how it is today, then people may actually buy FPS games not just for their multiplayer component.

  2. Guest: your an idiot. You obviously have no idea the amount of skill level neeeded for quake multiplayer. It is, and probably always will be, the greatest fps game ever created. Its something console players such as yourself will never understand.  Just stick with your Halo auto aim please.

    • And you clearly have zero idea what you are talking about, and are making completely false assumptions that couldn’t be further from the truth. Mummy really shouldn’t let her little shit on the internet
