Syndicate¬†hasn’t even been released yet and here we are about to report on something dreadful already. It seems that the game’s developer, Starbreeze, will be laying off 25 people following the developer’s completion of Syndicate for publisher Electronic Arts.

Starbreeze CEO, Mikael Nermark had this to say regarding the matter:

It is sad that we are forced to make staff cutbacks affecting employees. But we have to reduce staff after the final delivery of the Syndicate

The last game completed by the Swedish studio prior to Syndicate was The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, which was accepted warmly by critics. Let’s just hope that the Syndicate remake fares as well.

It’s never fun to lose a job and we wish everyone there the best of luck.

Syndicate will be out next week on February 21 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

  1. This seems to be a more common occurrence every day. Why do so many development studios cut people once a project is wrapping up?

  2. On the one hand it’s bullshit that this is how the industry rewards hard work these days. On the other hand it’s hard to feel bad for anybody associated with this shitty FPS reboot.
