Just when you thought it was safe to dive into your “pile of shame,” another week filled with huge releases jumps out and gets ya.

This week has something for everyone with the return of Rayman 3 (this time in HD) for Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network. If armless, legless heroes aren’t your bag, downloadable game fans, you’ll be in bullet hell heaven with Sine Mora, also releasing on XBLA.

Perhaps you like your games to scare the everlovin’ crap out of you. Silent Hill HD Collection, a compilation of Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 will give you another chance to explore the foreboding town. It’s also sandwiched in between last week’s Silent Hill Downpour and next week’s PlayStation Vita title, Silent Hill Book of Memories.

Another major survival horror franchise is getting a new chapter this week. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is a huge diversion for the series, introducing three-way squad-based shooter action. Players will need to take down both infected and opposing forces with some pretty cool skills.

Mech fans will be happy to know that Armored Core V is finally here. Customize and battle with your high-flying, spirally missile shooting giant metal tanks of doom. The series has come a long way since the early days of having to manipulate the camera with the shoulder buttons.

Pick of the Week: He slices, he dices, he juliennes bad guys in soooooo many ways. Ryu Hayabusa returns in two different games, doubling his body count. You can find him as a new guest character in Warriors Orochi 3, which is a bit of an interesting release. You can get it on Xbox 360 in retail disc form, but it will only be available on PlayStation 3 as a downloadable title. The reason for this is because Sony doesn’t allow games without an English voice track as retail, boxed copies… except for the Yakuza series.

The big news is that Ryu is back in his own series with the release of the ultra bloody, ultra awesome Ninja Gaiden 3. I can’t wait to get my hands on the full retail version of this Pick of the Week after spending some time with it at a press event last month.

Bonus Pick of the Week: He’s back! Pit makes his triumphant return in Kid Icarus: Uprising for the Nintendo 3DS. It’s about time, Nintendo. About. Time.
