Though Xbox Live Indie Games may not be the boon to the indie scene Microsoft had hoped, success stories still come around every now and then. The latest of these comes with the news that the XBL Indie release Aban Hawkins & The 1000 Spikes will be remade and released on the 3DS and Wii U as 1,001 Spikes.
The original game received generally strong praise, currently holding about a four out of five star rating on its official Xbox.com page, but the title is set to be upgraded in nearly every fashion. Developer Nicalis, currently working on WiiWare title La-Mulana, will be including a four-player local multiplayer mode, as well as enhancing the art and sound design. Set to release on the 3DS eShop first at an unspecified date, Nicalis is hoping to have a Wii U version of the retro platformer prepared for the system’s launch.
