Capcom revealed yesterday what they had planned for the upcoming 25th anniversary of the Street Fighter franchise. While it was no surprise to find out that they had something planned, I wasn’t expecting anything this extensive. For starters, Capcom is releasing a massive collection of Street Fighter games and memorabilia for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, all contained within the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector’s Set. Needless to say, I want one.

As far as games go, you’ll be getting all of this:

  • A complete copy of Street Fighter x Tekken, complete with DLC characters and extra costumes
  • Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, with all costume DLC on the disc
  • Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix, most likely included on a card with a redeemable code
  • Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition, also most likely included on a card with a redeemable code

All of the following video footage is also included:

  • A documentary on Blu-Ray (not sure if it’ll be on DVD for 360 owners)
  • The Street Fighter IV animated movie, as well as the animations for Super Street Fighter IV
  • Every episode of the Street Fighter animated series from the 1990’s.
  • Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie
You also get an eight inch tall statue of Ryu posing mid-Shoryuken that lights up, an 11 disc soundtrack set that includes music from the games, remixes, and “fan-created music”. Lastly, you get a fancy replica of Ryu’s belt and a certificate of authenticity from Capcom themselves. These collector’s sets are going for $149.99, and can be pre-ordered through Capcom’s web store. Click here for 360, and here for PS3.
Capcom also announced a worldwide tournament for each of the games included in the Collector’s Set, with regional tournaments happening all over the globe on different dates.
  • July 28-29 in Austin, TX
  • August 11-12 in the NY area (location pending)
  • August 26 in Taipei, Taiwan (location pending)
  • Mid-September in the Tokyo Region, Japan (date and location pending)
  • September 27-30 in London, England (in conjunction with Eurogamer Expo)
  • October 13-14 in Sao Paulo, Brazil (in conjunction with Brazil Game Show)
  • October 27-28 in Los Angeles, CA
  • October 31 – November 4 in Paris, France (in conjunction with Paris Games Week)
  • December 8 Finals in San Francisco, CA (including players who qualify in the prelim tourneys)
While no cash prizes have been announced just yet, Capcom has stated that the first place winner in Street Fighter X Tekken is going to be going home with a brand new Scion FR-S Sports Coupe! Expect more information regarding registering for the tournament and prizes as the event draws closer. Get out there and start practicing!
