Are you a Halo fan who, for some bizarre reason, never picked up an Xbox 360?  Or, are you such a fanatic follower of Master Chief‘s exploits that you need to collect any and all related items?  Whatever the case may be, if you’re in the market for a new 360 to go along with your copy of Halo 4, Microsoft has you covered.

Announced at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con and detailed on Major Nelson’s blog, a limited edition Halo 4-branded console is now available for pre-order.  The console will release alongside the game on November 6 and will be priced at $399.99.  For that asking price, you’ll get a custom-designed console as well as two exclusive controllers that mirror the system’s art design.  Oh, and I forgot to mention that a copy of Halo 4, a wired headset, and a 320 GB hard drive will be included in the bundle.

The pricing doesn’t sound bad for what’s included in the package, but I can’t imagine that many people are in need of a 360 at this point. Even for rabid fans of the franchise, purchasing this console, especially with next-gen looming on the horizon, seems impractical and unnecessary. And personally, the console simply doesn’t look that great.  As a follower of the series, nothing about the design jumps out at me as a must have, as opposed to the original reveal of the Halo 4 boxart, which is absolutely stunning.  I’m sure Microsoft will move plenty of these consoles, but unless my console breaks I can’t see myself picking one up, especially when I can be paying less than half the price for a regular 360.
