Ubisoft has done a pretty good job supporting the Assassin’s Creed series with DLC since 2009’s Assassin’s Creed II. With this fall’s Assassin’s Creed III, though, the developer may be offering fans a chance to grab up all of the game’s future DLC in one fell swoop with a purported season pass. Apparently, a letter was sent to Gamestop employees hinting at this possibility:

“We are currently in the process of creating a complementary development team that will begin working on post-launch episodic content to continue the Game of the Year experience that Assassin’s Creed 3 will undoubtedly deliver.”

The letter further went on to state that the developer/publisher itself would soon be taking pre-orders of their own for this season pass, and asks that those Gamestop employees inform fans that a ‘better value’ is available for those fans who wish to pre-order this pass. Keep in mind that, as of now, no DLC plans have been announced for the game, save the ‘special DLC’ that will be heading exclusively to the PlayStation 3, so we’re not sure what kind of content you’ll be getting, but new multiplayer maps and classes, as well as new single-player storylines are both pretty safe guesses, considering the precedent that has been set.

Personally, I’m not one for purchasing season passes, just in case the DLC doesn’t interest me. While Ubisoft has managed to renew my interest in the Assassin’s Creed franchise with AC3, I still won’t be jumping on this particular bandwagon. If the DLC interests me, I’ll buy it when its released. If you’re a die-hard fan, though, I assume you’ll be looking into this already.

Assassin’s Creed 3 will release on the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on October 30th, and for the Wii U at a later, as-of-yet unannounced date.
