As another month comes, so too does another round of PlayStation Plus updates. Though Sony is remaining mum on the month’s more attractive offers, there are still a few perks coming your way in the next couple of weeks.
Before August officially hits, Plus subscribers will receive 20% off the imaginatively titled The Expendables 2 Video Game, making it only $11.99. The movie tie-in will include a co-op four player story featuring the characters portrayed by Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and Terry Crews. Whether or not the game will include as stellar performances as will likely appear on screen has yet to be determined.
Subscribers can also pre-order the promising SoundShapes before its release on August 7 and receive 20% on this title as well. For $11.99, buyers will receive both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita iterations as well as an exclusive PS3 theme. That discount will also be in effect for the first week of the game’s release.
Perhaps the biggest discount announced so far, however, is that subscribers will receive the first two episodes of Telltale Games‘ The Walking Dead for free on August 7. For those who have yet to play Episode 1: A New Day and Episode 2: Starved for Help (and click on each title to see why we believe these episodes are worth your time). That’s $10 free of charge, and having personally played the series these downloads should be immediately added to your queue once the discount is live.
While that only brings us through a small portion of the month, Sony promises that a new update will be revealed on August 13, which will include additions to the service’s biggest draw, its Instant Game Collection. What has been announced so far is not a bad way to start August, and with more looming on the horizon, PlayStation Plus continues to prove why its worth a subscription.
