If you’re looking for the stops in Darksiders II, THQ and Vigil Games have pulled them all out. In addition to a more flexible combat system, the addition of random loot and grander adventure than its predecessor, the sequel to 2010’s Darksiders has two more surprises for gamers. First up, players will have a reason to relive Death’s quest after conquering it the first time with a New Game + option. Given the focus on loot and the variety of skill combinations, this is a perfect fit.

The bigger news though, is the inclusion of a 100-round Arena Challenge mode. Once players begin their way up the ladder, they’ll have the opportunity to cash out every five levels. Sticking with it will yield bigger and better prizes, with an ultimate prize awaiting those that manage to tough out everything the arena throws at them. We’ve got screenshots for you now, but you’ll be able to get your hands on Darksiders II next week, on August 14, 2012.
