Under The Radar is a weekly look at games that have ended up hidden through lack of coverage, but shouldn’t have. If you have a game that you think should be featured here, leave it in the comments and I’ll be sure to check it out.

With the announcement of this year’s Indie Games Uprising lineup, I thought it would be worthwhile to talk about the best multiplayer game you’ve never played: Zombies and Pterodactyls 20XX (ZP2KX).

Developed by Ska Studios– creators of I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES 1NIT!!!1– ZP2KX is a fast-paced, 2D multiplayer deathmatch game. If you’ve ever played either of The Dishwasher games- another offering by Ska Studios- you know what to expect, just add crazy guns. Players clash with ranged, melee and jet packs on big levels with up to nine other players. As with the Dishwasher series, movement is ridiculously fun and includes wall running, giant jumps and the use of jet packs that allows quick escapes or aerial attacks. Ranged weapons include pistols, grenade launchers, rainbow-firing lasers, cat-guns and freeze ways along with plenty of other absurd choices. Katanas, cloud swords and lightsabers are just a few of the melee options, and the use of the right stick to quickly dash forward in a slicing attack is immensely satisfying.

Players can also customize character aesthetically and mechanically. Different pieces of clothing are earned by playing more and can result in some amusing combinations that led me to create cyborg samurai-cowboy. Perks can customized as well, allowing for different abilities like more jetpack fuel, faster reload, and more health.

If the title, weapons and theme haven’t it made it glaringly obvious, ZP2KX is a game focused on the ludicrous. From the fast paced action to the whimsical weaponry and the absurd apparel, the game is easily one of XBLIG’s best and unique offering. Oh, and you get all this joy for the paltry sum of $1.

You need to pick up ZP2KX right now from XBLIG here and are compelled to check out Ska Studio’s other games on their official site here.
