If you’re an Xbox owner and have been eagerly (or passively) awaiting the release of the next title in the Halo series, then I have good news! Halo 4 developer 343 Industries and video entertainment network Machinima Prime are teaming up to bring you a live-action short that serves as a prequel to the upcoming game.

Titled Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, this will be the first live action content ever created for Microsoft‘s popular franchise, and will feature five fifteen minute long videos, debuting this Friday, October 5th, and running weekly until November 5th, just prior to the game’s launch.

Executive Producers of Forward Unto Dawn Josh Feldman and Lydia Antonini have been working closely on-set with 343 to bring you a high quality web-series that does justice to the franchise whose name it bears.  The series includes top talent such as director Stewart Hendler and actor Daniel Cudmore – whom you may remember as Colossus in the live-action X-Men movies – offer further promise to this already alluring idea.

The trailer for the series has been viewed over four million times since it was premiered at the San Diego Comic Con, so it’s clear that quite a few of you have been hotly anticipating this one. Come Friday, all that anticipation will finally pay off, so make sure you mark your calendar.

    • i think they mean the first live action halo matierial that is a film and not shorts or promotional. when halo 4 Forward unto dawn finishes online, it will be released on DVD and blu Ray as a film you can physically buy in stores.

    • It’s possible the fact is a little wonky. That was how it was described to us in the press release. Maybe 343 forgot about that promo. Or maybe they just don’t count it for some reason. Although, I have to say, I appreciate you being civil about it, and not tearing my head off. :) Making a mistake regarding Halo can be seen as taboo sometimes.
