With the release of the next title in Sony‘s epic God of War franchise – the prequel titled Ascension – scheduled to hit shelves on March 12th, the company has decided to do something special for fans. To commemorate the game’s launch, Sony is releasing the limited edition God of War: Ascension Legacy Bundle. The bundle will include a 500 GB, garnet red PlayStation 3 console, with the colour modeled after Kratos’ iconic tattoo, a copy of the new God of War Ascension and the God of War Saga, which includes all five previous entries in the franchise, and a 30-day membership to Sony’s PlayStation Plus service. If you’re really looking forward to God of War Ascension, grabbing this bundle when it lands on March 12th might be the way to show it.
Here’s what I don’t understand, though: this bundle is supposedly for “die-hard fans.” If you’re a die-hard fan, wouldn’t you have already have all five of the other games, not to mention a PS3? Maybe you’ve even still got a PS2 stored on your shelf for revisiting the original version of God of War and God of War II. I mean, if you’re in the market for a PS3, then this is definitely the way to go: the God of War series is excellent, and that red PS3 is quite sexy. But I don’t know how many “die-hard fans” are going to purchase this bundle. Maybe I’m over-thinking things, though.
The bundle is currently listed with an MSRP of $349.99. What do you think? Enough bang for your buck?
