The creation of the Fullbrighty Company development studio was one of the first stories I wrote up for this site nearly a year ago, and their Gone Home game is one that I’ve been following for just as long. The game is a first-person explorer that takes place in 1995 as a young woman returns home to Portland, Oregon after a trip to Europe and is searching around the new home her family has moved into while she was away. Fullbright has just announced that they’ve managed to get authentic music from the era and now have music from Riot Grrrl bands Heavens to Betsy and Bratmobile. Having seen the use of diegetic music before in some preview videos, I’ve not doubt that Fullbright’s implementation will be tasteful and immersive.

Gone Home comes out in the later half of 2013.
